As a EH&S Coordinator, you will be supporting the Safety Manager to develop, enforce and maintain environmental, health and safety policies, programs and procedures according to federal regulations, state regulations and best practices in Stockton, CA. 

As a part of the EHS team, you will be responsible for environmental, health and safety initiatives, training, continuous improvement, accident response, investigations, reporting, worker’s compensation claims and security. The EH&S Coordinator will operate within a highly collaborative work environment and report directly to the EH&S Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Conduct daily inspections to ensure the proper PPE and fall protection harnesses are being worn, forklift inspections are complete, machine guarding is in place and in good working order, working areas are free from hazards and in safe condition, hazardous waste containers are properly labeled and disposed of, coils, pallets and other objects are stacked properly in a safe manner, weekly inspect first aid cabinets and eye wash stations. (50%)

Ensure compliance with federal, state, local standards, regulations and company policies including the IIPP and procedures through inspection and routine policy review making recommendations for change as needed and required, review countermeasure practices are in place and working, make recommendations on inspection practices as needed and required, respond to incident request and determine if countermeasures are in place to eliminate reoccurrence of unsafe acts/conditions. (30%)

Ensure all required permits are up to date, coordinate and facilitate safety committee meetings in the absence of the safety manager, conduct in person training sessions and develop/draft the content for each session, coordinate and provide response to regulatory agencies and employee complaints, maintain certifications and up to date knowledge through self-education, attending seminars, participating in professional organizations. Maintain records, permits, forklift inspections maintaining employees are trained and recertified in a timely manner. (20%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • OSHA 500/501 certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA, Federal OSHA, environmental regulations, hazardous materials and waste processes.
  • HAZWOPER certified preferred.
  • Instructor in Industrial Trucks, CPR/First Aid and general industry standards.
  • Communication: Clearly exchanges thoughts, ideas and messages through written, verbal and non-verbal methods that promote an understanding with the target audience. Listens carefully and attentively. Able to effectively present to varying levels of the organization.
  • Problem Solving: Is able to solve complex problems using various tools and gets to root cause. 
  • Computer Skills: Ability to work with computer software to communicate team results and training concepts, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.   
  • Attention to Detail: Is attentive to detail and accuracy, performs quality work, continuously looks for improvements, finds root cause of problems, owns/acts on problems, seeks opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Accountability & Dependability: Meets commitments, works independently, accepts ownership of projects and outcomes, takes personal responsibility and sets objectives/standards, stays focused under pressure, meets attendance/punctuality requirements, shows a sense of urgency about getting results.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to calculate percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Analysis/Reasoning: Ability to deal with problems with many variables in standardized and non-standardized situations. 
  • Self-Management: Tackles problems and takes independent action, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self-development, demonstrates a bias for action without prompting.
  • Occasionally prolonged standing, sitting, will be required.
  • Commercial building security experience.
