Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
includes the following.  Other duties as assigned.

  • Provides expert guidance and training on EHS policies / procedures as the subject matter expert (SME) and keeps the system current.
  • Maintains the safety incident reporting data base and provides reports to management.
  • Uses data to develop effective actions. 
  • Leads safety training program and ensures training is effectively delivered on time. 
  • Plans improvement activities in coordination with management and hourly teams to drive safety compliance.
  • Manages compliance-related activities.
  • Translate policies into company-level procedures. Ensure all employees are provided with relevant information. 
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents, violations and environmental issues.
  • Maintain the safety incident reporting data base. 
  • Develop corrective actions based on relevant data.
  • Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis. 
  • Train the management team on Environmental-Health-Safety (EHS) related training topics. Share Best Practices.
  • Maintain a safety training data base to ensure all employees receive required training.  
  • Continually improve new hire safety training material.
  • Effectively use the safety data to determine best opportunities for improvements.
  • Develop Corrective Plans based on plant safety trends (data).
  • Monitor effectiveness of safety corrective actions plans.
  • Work with management team on required corrective actions to drive improvement.
  • Audit corrective actions to ensure they are sustained and report to management.
  • Schedule/coordinate visits with all required state and local inspectors for environmental monitoring. Report audit results to management.
  • Maintain all required licenses/certificates.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA in safety management or similar field
  • 5 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
  • Experience with producing professional performance reports
  • Experience with developing and delivering EHS training


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES: Certificate in occupational health and safety. 

KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS – ABILITIES:

  • Expert knowledge of pertinent OSHA requirements 
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Expert knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Working knowledge of safety management information system
  • Expert interpersonal and communication skills:
  • Skilled at conducting data analysis and reporting statistics, trending data
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Outstanding organizational skills; Good time-management skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team player

Physical– Mental - Environmental Conditions:
Office environment. Regulated heat/air-conditioning. Low noise level.

Frequently:
Sits, Stands, Walks, Reads and Comprehends, Writes, Reasons, Analyzes, Makes Visual Distinctions. 

Regularly:
Performs Calculations, is exposed to noise and around moving machinery when in the plant.
