Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Business Regional Manager - ESSG South Region

Eaton has an opening for an EHS Business Regional Manager - Electrical Systems & Services Group (ESSG) South Region.  This position can be located in either Arden, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Raleigh, NC, Youngsville, NC, Greenwood, SC, Sumter SC or remotely. No relocation is being offered for this position. If the candidate resides more than 50 miles away from any of these Eaton facilities, the candidate may work from a remote home office.
 
This position provides environmental, health, safety and security leadership to Electrical Systems & Services Group within the US South region and Customer Manufacturing Solutions Centers.  Incumbent is accountable for the following: identifying and managing significant environmental aspects and health and safety hazards; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring that MESH self-assessments are thoroughly completed on a timely basis; completion of required training; managing interfaces with governmental authorities; supporting actions during and following crises; and supporting medical case management. 
 
The incumbent is responsible for providing technical and tactical support within the assigned region including: defining objectives and targets; investigation of incidents and establishment of corrective and preventive action plans; communication of regulatory requirements; identifying and sharing transferrable practices, evaluating and developing EHS talent, and providing necessary support for site EHS programs.
 
The incumbent may have additional responsibilities for providing subject matter expertise in areas such as: Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering/Management, Safety, and EHS Systems.
 
Essential Functions include: 

  • Facilitates process and provides technical and administrative services such as industrial hygiene sampling, ergonomic evaluations, and energy conservation surveys to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and MESH requirements.  Specific attention is needed to evaluate and ensure compliance with local EHS requirements.
  • Develops and facilitates sub-regional forums for knowledge and sharing of best practices along with general integration of EHS programs across the area including integration of Corporate, Group, and Regional EHS initiatives.
  • Establishes and shared ownership and accountability for the achievement of local goals and objectives along with timely and accurate reporting mechanisms in support of Corporate/Regional strategic initiatives designed to produce verifiable world class performance.
  • Facilitates evaluation and implementation of fiscally and socially responsible methods of reducing operational environmental footprint.
  • Supports EHS risk assessment initiatives and risk mitigation (including security).
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with governmental authorities on matters of mutual concern including voluntary certification (e.g., ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registration, VPP, Industria Limpia), maintenance of environmental permits, submission of required reports, and maintenance of data. 
  • Build organization capability by providing EHS training and development of EHS professionals to ensure each site within the region has the appropriate technical and functional competencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in environmental, health and safety program management or employee training
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
 
Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Expert knowledge of industry, state, and country environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Exceptional team-building skills and demonstrated ability to lead through influence
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to manage large number of disparate projects and to track projects through completion
  • Working knowledge of cross-functional EHS disciplines
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in one of the EHS functional disciplines (Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering/Management, Safety, or EHS Systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or country equivalent).
