Environmental Engineer

Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer (Air) at our Foley Cellulose facility located in Perry, FL. This employee will work within the Foley Cellulose Environmental team, helping ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations for this global supplier of dissolving cellulose pulp and bleached market pulp. The selected individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining environmental management systems that promote environmental excellence. In addition, the Environmental Engineer will support facility efforts to conform to company policies and procedures such as Georgia-Pacific's Environmental Compliance Standards. The Environmental Engineer’s role on the team may initially be focused on air media, however, this role is foreseen to eventually grow in proficiency to provide assistance across all media and environmental programs.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
     * Completing permit applicability assessments and obtaining and maintaining necessary environmental permits and licenses 
     * Providing support in maintaining compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements, including managing air compliance testing 
     * Preparing and submitting required regulatory reports to outside agencies 
     * Performing release reporting and recordkeeping as required by company policy, environmental regulations, and environmental permits
     * Monitoring key compliance metrics and implementing corrective and preventive actions to continually improve performance
     * Serving as a point of contact for environmental support for the facility and rotate with other team members to provide support on weekends and holidays
     * Identifying and implementing required training for operations, maintenance, engineering, and other facility staff and maintain adherence to company compliance standards
     * Maintaining and growing knowledge of relevant federal and State laws and regulations
     * Identifying cost effective solutions to proactively address environmental issues, working closely with internal subject matter experts and legal representatives as needed
     * Professionally representing facility at agency meetings and during agency inspections
     * Sharing knowledge with environmental engineers from other Georgia-Pacific facilities and participating in internal audits of other facilities
     * Proactively interacting with operations personnel in the mill to thoroughly understand the environmental process technologies and overall manufacturing processes, communicating environmental requirements and responsibilities, and answering any questions and addressing any concerns
     * Supporting the implementation of new Florida Department of Environmental Protection air regulations at the Foley Mill
 
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
     * One or more of the following:
          + One (1) year or more of experience in an environmental engineering role
          + Successful completion of Georgia-Pacific's ELP, EDP, or intern programs
     * Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering, Pulp & Paper Technology, or other engineering or physical science discipline 
     * Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
     * Working knowledge of air emissions compliance and permitting
 
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:
     * Three (3) years or more of experience in an environmental engineering role
     * Experience working in pulp & paper or a similar process industry as an environmental engineer or equivalent process role with environmental involvement
