Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities

  • With focus on Environmental compliance, this position reports to the site EHS Manager.
  • Reviews and updates as needed existing plant Environmental Health & Safety programs to ensure compliance.
  • Supports ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Management systems.
  • Assists in the preparation and/or prepares EH&S reports.
  • Designs and delivers employee training as needed on applicable regulations and EH&S topics.
  • Monitors the Plant’s compliance on regulatory requirements, reports gaps and develops corrective actions.
  • Maintains all required documents to support compliance.
  • Performs routine site EH&S inspections, follow-ups and verifies corrective actions.
  • Reviews and revise as needed existing procedures and forms that supplement the plant EH&S programs.
  • Provides expertise and support for the site’s EH&S programs.
  • Delivery of safety status reporting and Key Performance Indicators measured across multiple shifts (eg Accident reporting and investigation, safety work orders, and Near Misses)

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in a science field, e.g. Chemistry, Engineering,...
  • 5+ yrs EH&S experience in Manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Regulatory reporting requirements
  • Experience in managing regulatory inspections, inquiries, response & closure
  • Knowledge of ISO and OHSAS management system a plus
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and related safety standards and practices
  • Experience in the chemical or chemical-related industry is preferred
