Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Site Manager

The EHS Manager provides common support to local Colorado site operations to help ensure programs are meeting local EHS requirements and are aligned with corporate goals.  Working with site managers and local EHS professionals, programs are implemented to maintain compliance and improve performance.  In this role, the EHS Manager will supervise and ensure technical competency of select EHS staff as well as provides direct support and leadership of certain operations. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise & develop local EHS professionals establishing goals and training objectives
  • Work with local operations to develop EHS goals that are aligned with corporate goals and to communicate related performance
  • Identify performance trends and take action to perpetuate positive performance and improve negative performance
  • Manage process to evaluate impact and establish compliance plans for emerging regulations
  • Ensure effective management systems are in place (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001) including EHS review of changes
  • Provide direct EHS support and leadership for certain operations
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and conduct periodic audits against procedures
  • Establish and manage EHS training program as well as consulting agreements
  • Interact with operations, legal counsel, consultants, and regulatory authorities to resolve specific issues
     

Key/Critical Competencies: 

  • Understanding of EHS regulations (safety, air emissions, hazardous waste, transportation, material restrictions, disposal schemes, etc.)
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements
  • Ability to manage and supervise EHS professionals
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
     

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a related discipline (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or Environmental, Health and Safety Management)
  • >5 years experience including projects in a wide variety of EHS topic areas
  • 5-10 years demonstrated leadership of successful teams
  • Working relationships with regulatory agencies/personnel, government officials, and other stakeholders
  • Working experience in risk management, problem solving and issue management

Required Training:

  • Professional Certifications in select disciplines as appropriate (CIH, CSP, CHMM, ADR, etc.)
  • Auditor and/or Lead training


Desired Skills: 

  • Experience managing Title Air Permits
  • Experience with waste water treatment systems
  • Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing setting
