Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) & ISO Coordinator

EHS & ISO Coordinator

General Summary:

This is a hybrid role that will demand creative problem solving, strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within the organization. The EH&S develops, implements, and maintains successful environmental & safety initiatives at our facility. The ISO will formally document all procedures, processes, records & manages the audit systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Continues support of Environmental Management Systems in conformance with ISO 14001 requirements. 
  • Ensures that Company safety procedures are followed and environmental, health and safety standards are met and kept up to date.
  • Maintains accurate and complete EH&S records in accordance with governing regulations and company policies. 
  • Tracks and measures facility’s EH&S performance and engage in a hands-on role to create and implement plans to improve performance.
  • Encourages and maintains high employee involvement in safety and health.
  • Conducts EHS training for new hires and annual training for existing employees.
  • Develops and conducts new training programs as needed. 
  • Conducts facility inspections (inside and outside) per outside regulations and internal programs.
  • Performs incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, determination of corrective actions, and ensure recommended corrective actions/preventative measures are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate site EH&S records and documentation, including tracking and reporting of safety statistics. 
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. 
  • Serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. 
  • Monitors & measures use of natural resources and trend consumption to targets established from prior year, reports out to staff & corporate as required regarding the injuries, accidents, & usages.
  • Submits permit applications for site as required per regulatory standards.
  • Maintains & manages supporting programs such as “Reach,” “Conflict mineral” and any other programs that affect the environmental input and/or output of the company.
  • Administers the company’s safety shoes and safety glasses program.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date the fire evacuation list.
  • Responsible for EHS reporting.
  • Leads the employees’ Safety Committee and safety audits.
  • Assist with injury case management and worker's compensation claims.
  • Facilitates 5S+Safety Program.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities EHS AND ISO COORDINATOR: 

  • Ability to effectively coordinate EH&S activity.
  • Solid written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and articulate with the management team in a clear, concise and timely manner. 
  • Must be knowledgeable with standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding EH&S programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and sound decision making.

Education & Experience Required EHS AND ISO COORDINATOR:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health Sciences or Physical Sciences or equivalent level of experience and training.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Environmental Health and safety role. Knowledge of Federal/State OSHA and environmental regulations, and incident investigation experience.
  • OSHA 10hr or 30hr Certification (desired)
  • Root Cause Analysis training and/or experience is desirable
  • Team player and able to build and maintain relationships both internal and external
  • Previous experience with ISO 9000 or ISO 14001 preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs required (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
