EHS Compliance Technician

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Technician

Position Summary: 
This position supports the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) with various aspects of compliance related to Icicle’s seafood processing facilities and support operations in Alaska and Washington.  Responsible for assisting in all aspects of the EHS department, which includes the collection and maintenance of EHS related records and reports, creates and maintains EHS department manuals to stay up to date with best practices, and act as a point of contact for Safety Managers throughout Alaska operations on EHS related matters. Occasional travel to work sites based through Washington and Alaska will be required in order to assist in training and site inspections. The EHS Compliance Technician is non-exempt from overtime and reports to the Director of EHS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

¨      Supports the Director of EHS, facilities and operations with various aspects of EHS compliance.

¨      Researches and interprets regulatory requirements.

¨      Provides technical expertise in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

¨      Interfaces with facility staff and Safety Managers on EHS issues.

¨      Prepares accurate, technical, internal and external reports.

¨      Reviews and submits accurate and timely applications, reports and notifications to regulatory agencies.

¨      Assists in creating and maintaining EHS program manuals.

¨      Performs periodic site inspections.

¨      Maintains organized paper and electronic records.

¨     Other duties as assigned


Skill and experience required: 

¨      B.S. in environmental science, life science, or a related science field and education or equivalent training in occupational health and safety.

¨      Three to five years of experience directly related to EHS compliance.

¨      Experience with interpreting federal regulations for air, water, and waste and in-depth experience with general industry OSHA standards for manufacturing facilities.

¨      Excellent communication and organizational skills.

¨      Possesses critical thinking skills.

¨      Must have the ability to prepare technically concise written documents and presentations.

¨      Initiative to keep apprised of regulatory changes and to develop and communicate new information.

¨      Ability to work efficiently and effectively individually and as a member of a team.

¨      Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

¨      Flexibility to travel and work extended hours as needed.  Travel includes trips to remote land-based and floating operational facilities based in Washington and Alaska. 

¨      Consistent, reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.


Work Schedule:

¨     Standard schedule is 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. with occasional overtime required.
