DOT Manager (Safety)

The DOT Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the company’s Driver Management Program and provides direction, leadership and support to ensure compliance with all DOT regulations. This position is located in Orleans, IN at the Layne Inliner office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance and auditing of Driver Management Program including DOT and Non-DOT Driver Qualifications.
  • Monitor vehicle inspections companywide.
  • Provide annual training to all locations related to current and any changes in regulations.
  • Maintain all annual certificates pertaining to Hazmat licenses.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state and local regulations for commercial and non-commercial motor vehicles.
  • Complete all required reporting in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Develop, implement and revise DOT and some Non-DOT policies.
  • Conduct vehicle incident investigations to audit for compliance.
  • Provides direction, coaching, training and oversight to two administrative staff positions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in DOT field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ prior experience in DOT management role.
  • Experience with Smith System preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
