Director of Industrial Hygiene (IH)

We are recruiting for a Global Director of Industrial Hygiene in Akron, OH job 1275. This is a full-time position as an employee of our client and relocation assistance possible within the US.

Job Purpose:
As an integral member of the Environmental, Health and Safety team, and reporting to the site EHS Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to align Industrial Hygiene processes with business goals and to engage employees to promote behaviors that will achieve the highest levels of productivity in the safest possible manner. The incumbent will assist in establishing, updating, implementing and overseeing all IH programs.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • All potential candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States, employer sponsorship is not available.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College / University in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Five (5) or more years of Industrial Hygiene experience in manufacturing facilities.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IH related sampling for air, noise etc
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted IH program auditing procedures
  • Demonstrated success executing compliance programs regarding Federal, State and local IH regulations

Additional Preferred Competencies: 

  • Additional Professional Certification (ASP, CSP etc.) from a nationally recognized organization
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and direct IH programs throughout the global organization including design, development, implementation and maintenance of systems
  • Aligns corporate and local EHS goals and strategies
  • Participate in/lead EHS audits and inspections developing remediation plans as needed
  • Maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stake holders including federal, state and local regulators
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local EHS regulations
  • Lead employee training programs regarding EHS behaviors and compliance
