JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for all of our EHS issues related to our entire company including both field and office employees. This position works closely with all of our managers and executive management team to maintain and improve all of our Safety and IIPP programs. 

The successful candidate will have 5 to 10 years-experience in Safety and Safety related policies and procedures.  He/She must be a CPR and First Aid certified trainer and be familiar with all OSHA and Cal-OSHA requirements and have a thorough understanding of all Safety and Safety related practices.

In this role the candidate must be willing to learn and apply new requirements and integrate them into existing training practices; be pro-active and process improvement oriented; enjoy the challenge of keeping everything up to date. The candidate must be computer knowledgeable and able to fully utilize a laptop computer for data collection and documentation; must be familiar with MS Office including Excel and WORD.

This position is responsible for all of our EHS issues related to our entire company including both field and office employees. This position works closely with all of our managers and executive management team to maintain and improve all of our Safety and IIPP programs. 

The successful candidate must be professionally presentable, must have good customer skills and strong communication skills, must be able to operate independently and communicate efficiently and effectively with both the customer and management. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Essential Functions:

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.  Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

  • Train all new employees who come into the company. Training to cover all of the RFM Safety manual issues as well as specific trade requirements for the area (RSO, MSHA).
  • Track each individual in the company and notify managers when upcoming refresher training is required.
  • Review and process (in an expeditious manner) all contractor safety questionnaires and contact person at company requesting information to clear up any questions or clarifications.
  • Complete site inspections (independently) and provide written follow up to Service Managers.
  • Institute a Safety incentive program.
  • Provide flyers and updates on a monthly basis regarding company performance
  • Provide accident investigation on all accidents not deemed “minor”.
  • Hold “post-accident” meeting to review what happened, how and what to correct for future (Webex, phone conference)
  • Review safety manual and provide changes on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide custom training when required
  • Review and approve or deny sub-contractor safety policies.
  • Provide office audits and review with local managers to discuss improvements needed.
  • Audit and approve local clinics for each office
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong people and Leadership skills in a professional setting
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to current and future safety needs.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • A valid driver's license is required.  Must be insurable with no major infractions.  Job will require some travel.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This job may also operate in internal and external environments which may include inclement weather conditions.  Environment will include working with hot steam, liquids tight spaces and other conditions depending on customer site(s).

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  This is largely a deskbound role; however, filing, correlating, reproduction and binding materials are required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand on a stool, climb stairs, and prepare training and meeting rooms/spaces as necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may additionally also be regularly required to squat, walk, lift, pull, push, crawl, climb stairs and drive various equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This position regularly requires long hours and occasional travel work as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is required and as needed to all RFMCo. office locations and customer locations within its operating cities, with out-of-area and overnight travel expected.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in Safety and safety related issues and related policies and procedures.
