Corporate Safety Director

Location: Northeast WI/NE IL

Position Summary: 

Develop, implement and manage Company safety program, policies and procedures. Position reports to VP Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct department staff to successfully execute all safety initiatives.
  • Ensure continual safety improvements and set annual objectives and targets. Monitor results and audit progress.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to reduce safety risks and occupational health issues.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure proper execution of workers' compensation programs.
  • Ensure safety program meets legal requirements and Company’s high standards   

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree minimum required 6+ years developing, implementing and/or managing a safety program with multiple locations is required.
  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment strongly preferredStrong floor and program experience in Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Electrical Safety and all OSHA programs and requirements.
  • Workers' compensation experience a plus.
  • Effective leader and strong negotiator with safety professionals, regulatory and/or industry organizations. Ablility to effectively communicate at both floor and executive levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Detail oriented with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organized with excellent time-management skills.
  • Available for travel (estimated 30%) to branch locations in U.S., Canada and Mexico.
