Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Lead

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Lead will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing Spark’s EHS program.  S/he will be responsible for monitoring site activities and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements at all Spark sites and locations globally (current and future sites). 
This individual will ensure EHS compliance across multiple functions, and will work closely with R&D, Finance/Procurement, Quality Assurance, Project Management, Facilities and Technical Operations to identify regulated activities. 
S/he will develop, implement and oversee EHS programs, processes and systems to support Spark’s efforts to achieve and maintain compliance.  


  • Develop, implement and maintain EHS compliance policies, procedures and plans in accordance with applicable federal, state, local requirements. 
  • Develop, implement and maintain regulatory tracking records and compliance documentation required to demonstrate compliance with regulatory permits and standards at federal, state and local levels.
  • Create and manage EHS compliance calendar.  
  • Ensure routine reporting, compliance tasks and deadlines are successfully completed and meets the required timelines.  
  • Continuously monitor and review of site operations and staff activities to ensure site operations are conducted in a safe and compliant manner. 
  • Develop and implement training to create awareness and understanding of compliance with internal and external requirements.  
  • Provide guidance and expertise to site staff to develop and enhance staff understanding of the EHS regulatory requirements and industry best practices that apply to Spark.  
  • Train, coach and work with cross functional leaders and staff to identify emerging issues.  
  • Develop work procedures, investigate accidents/near misses, and implement programs to ensure Spark achieves compliance.  
  • Develop and implement corrective measures as needed.  
  • Coordinate with federal, state and local regulatory agencies to remain current and knowledgeable in the regulatory requirements that apply to Spark.  
  • Applies industry best practices to ensure Spark is compliant with applicable standards. 
  • Respond to agency information requests. Serve as point of contact and liaison during agency visits and audits.
  • Represents function/organization on specific internal or external projects.
  • May serve as agency point of contact for emergency events such as chemical spills, injuries or accidents.
