Associate Health & Safety Specialist

Temple University is seeking an Associate Health and Safety Specialist to provide technical and advisory support services for the chemical safety, chemical hygiene, chemical waste management and laboratory safety programs as well as other Temple University wide program areas, which may include radiation safety, biological safety and occupational safety. Provides support to ensure compliance with applicable standards, laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field of science and three years experience in biology, chemistry, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite programs.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, including excellent listening skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
  • Must be able to move freely in small and large spaces, lift heavy objects over twenty-five lbs. and wear respiratory protective devices.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize well and focus on completion of tasks while under stress of demanding work schedule.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be available for 24 hour on-call emergency response.
