Sr. Manager, Corporate Health & Safety

Position Summary:
The Sr. Manager Health & Safety will lead health and safety management system and compliance activities at the corporate level. This role will drive safety performance improvement and safety culture growth and engagement. The incumbent will also provide direct support to plants and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a change agent for driving safety improvements, accountability and engagement throughout the organization
  • Develop safety policies and standards based on regulatory and internal requirements
  • Collaborate cross functionally on the development and integration of safety programs
  • Identify and deliver safety best practices 
  • Design and implement safety awareness programs
  • Manage data collection and analysis of safety metrics, KPIs and reports 
  • Research safety regulations and provide support for compliance
  • Conduct and mentor employees in behavior based safety 
  • Lead chemical safety and industrial hygiene programs
  • Establish and lead emergency response & evacuation planning 
  • Lead job safety analysis and risk assessments for equipment and facilities
  • Organize safety compliance and management system inspections, includes leading safety audits at the manufacturing plants
  • Collaborate with plant leadership on early incident intervention and pre-employment programs 
  • Create and deliver of safety training content and programs. Serve as Train the Trainer
  • Lead creation and deployment of company-wide safety communications
  • Assist with Workers Compensation claim management and action plans

Education and experience required:

  • B.S. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or similar degree from a strong and accredited 'brick and mortar' university.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of safety experience gained in direct, non-contract/non-consulting, employment in industrial manufacturing industry(s) with companies having a World Class approach to health & safety programs, systems, and culture.
  • Experience supporting multiple, and sizable, industrial manufacturing facilities from a regional or corporate role is required.
  • Candidates must provide demonstrable weight of experience to the health & safety field as opposed to the environmental or a balanced EH&S experience.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist is given preference.
  • Must be able to travel up to 40%

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state law is required
  • Interface closely Corp EHS Department staff, other Supply Chain functions and with all levels of the plant(s) 
  • Management of multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Support remote plants and lead multi-plant projects
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and in meeting tight deadlines when dictated by client schedules.
  • Good computer skills are essential, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Database Management.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
