Site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

OTS Holdings is currently hiring a Site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to be based at our client’s facility located in Swedesboro, NJ. If you are a collaborative EHS professional with a knack for developing successful partnerships and developing cohesive teams, we are looking for you!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary role in facilitating the execution of the site-specific EHS Program Design and Implementation Plan for our client’s facility, with focus on the following elements:
  • Collaborate with our client’s Site Management Team on all Plan aspects to ensure alignment and integration with facility operations and business culture.
  • Continually assess Plan implementation process to ensure an effective EHS Management System is developed and sustained across appropriate functions.
  • Develop applicable policies and procedures specific to regulatory requirements and best industry practices pertinent to facility operations.
  • Develop and present or facilitate training and awareness sessions correlating to EHS policies/procedures.
  • Lead incident analysis for all significant events such as injuries/illnesses, near misses, property damage and non-incidental spills/releases.
  • Compile monthly Program status reports and participate in periodic EHS Program reviews with OTSH and our client’s Management teams.
  • Routinely interact with Associates through a meaningful observation and coaching process.
  • Support OTSH Corporate EHS Team in the ongoing refinement of the facility’s EHS Program Design and Implementation Plan.
  • Routinely communicate with Client for process improvement around hazards recognized and corrective actions proposed.
  • Organize and participate in site EHS committee meetings and activities.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Risk department on reporting and managing workers’ compensation claims.
  • Work with Corporate Risk to establish site specific protocols for return to work programs to comply with Company policies on transitional duty/return to work.
  • Work with Corporate Safety and Risk teams on incident reporting and trend analysis.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for local OTS staff on EHS related matters.
  • Administrative support and other duties as needed.

Experience and Education Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
  • 5-7 years experience managing facility-level EHS Programs required, preferably in a food processing environment.
  • Related B.S. or advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional and relevant certifications a plus.
  • Must have strong organizational, management and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with management teams and associates on program design and implementation.
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or other languages a plus.
  • Employment contingent to successful completion of: criminal background, drug screening and behavioral/skills assessment.
  • Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Frequent work in a refrigerated environment of 35o F.
  • Walking for extended periods of time.
  • Periodically reach, bend, push, pull and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Extensive computer use and document review.
  • Requires the ability to hear normal audible sounds including conversations over the phone and in person.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
