This plant position is responsible for managing environmental programs and safety programs at a single facility to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety laws and regulations. An important aspect of managing these programs includes conducting, coordinating, and recordkeeping of training in applicable topics. Environmental duties include dealing with Clean Water Act issues, including NPDES permitted discharges of wastewater andstorm water.
Other duties include:
Management of spills, non-hazardous and hazardous wastes, implementation of pollution prevention activities; management of all community right-to-know programs including Form R, Tier II, and Risk Management Plans, Clean Air Act; issues managing noise and odor complaints; overseeing water conservation and recycling effort sties as the need arises. Safety duties include coordination of disaster recovery and contingency planning for all operations within the complex, implementation of strategies for accident prevention and Workers' Compensation cost management, and maintenance of safety-related programs, including instructor certification.
Additional duties include:
Developing training materials and conducting or supervisor training for safety programs; coordinating and conducting annual evacuation drills at all facilities; ensuring proper completion of incident investigations; responding to OSHA complaints and inspections; other duties as assigned. This position will manage Work Comp and all Health complaints and will be a backup for the Human Resource Manager.
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years' related experience and /or training; prior safety management experience; strong knowledge of safety, health laws, regulations, ergonomics and environmental.
Standard computer skills; Knowledge of Comp Watch.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Display sound judgment and decision-making, leadership and organizational skills.
