Safety Manager

The Manager, Safety provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of safety, health and environmental programs.  The Manager, Safety will assist the Director, Health & Safety in the development, coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs across all business units at Company and assists in the organizational safety, health and environmental compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and company policies. Service industry experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all business units are in compliance with Company safety policies and all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety.
  • Design and implement regulatory guidelines in accordance with OSHA, DOT, EPA regulations and safety needs of the organization.
  • Ensure proper OSHA record management system is maintained. Complete and/or participate in the management of all required OSHA reports.
  • Review safety policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate, conduct hazard and risk assessments and develop new or, where necessary make recommendations to senior management to amend safety policies and procedures.
  • Track and analyze ongoing safety, environmental, and DOT programs, conduct periodic evaluations and provide safety statistics and performance metrics.
  • Manage the organizations vehicle telemetrics initiative.
  • Develop and deliver safety and health related training in accordance with Company’s, state and federal requirements.
  • Utilize our Risk Management Information System to analyze statistics and trends. Ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across all locations. Conduct (or coordinate) on site reviews of accident scenes, collect pertinent data and information; interview involved parties/witnesses; document and report findings.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve the knowledge and skill of the Division and Location managers/supervisors in order to improve systems and positively impact the safe operations of the business.
  • Provide technical advice, guidance, and mentoring on safety related initiatives and necessary changes
  • Promote safety, health, environmental and DOT awareness in the organization.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Occupational Safety or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 4 - 6 years of safety & health experience with exposure to environmental compliance is required. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state safety & health and DOT regulations/standards is required.
  • Prior experience in the service sector is preferred.
  • Position requires travel, approximately 25% of time within the United States and Canada.
