Position Overview:
Reporting to the Safety Manager this position is an integral part of the EHS team and will provide support for the development, implementation and hands-on support of our Health and Safety Programs. In this role you will perform tasks and complete projects to support continuous improvement for the prevention and reduction of workplace injuries and illness in order to achieve a proactive safety environment. You will work with all stakeholders to ensure they are involved in this process and understand the requirements. The role will require you to be flexible with working hours.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • 35% - Identifying, investigating and correcting non-compliances and unsafe conditions. Reporting results and recommendations back to the key stakeholders.
  • 25% - Ensure compliance with Cargill’s safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • 25% - Tracking all safety projects in an organized manner. Ensuring that project status updates are communicated and interventions are completed.
  • 10% - Collecting, analyzing and summarizing statistics and report information.
  • 5% - Supporting other safety projects and initiatives including training of employees.

Required Skills:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a safety related discipline. discipline.
  • Strong understanding of Ergonomics (preference for Industrial Ergonomics).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and French (oral and written).
  • Analytical problem solving and decision making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point.
  • High level of organization and planning.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and with a team .
  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Available for call in on off shift hours in emergency situations.
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.

Preferred Skills:

  • Post-secondary education in Ergonomics.
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification part one.
