The Ergonomics Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert in ergonomic related factors impacting an employee’s ability to not only work safely but to improve plant efficiency as well. Responsible for overall ergonomics program design and implementation across the facility. Focus will be on reducing ergonomic risk factors and muscular skeletal disorders (MSD’s); fully implementing the ergonomic process; and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

 

Principal Accountabilities
 

25% Create ergonomic program that aligns with the facility safety strategy and goals; accountable to implement, direct and deploy ergonomics knowledge and processes for the various ergonomics teams, and plant positions

 

25% Conduct ergonomic risk assessments; identify solutions to improve high risk jobs and drive action plans to deliver on results; proactively monitor proposed and actual changes to ensure risks are managed appropriately; partner with various functions in the facility to resolve work orders and management of changes (MOC’s) identified as solutions

.

15% Analyze injury/illness data to assess trends and identify improvement plans to mitigate causal factors; liaise with Health Services and actively participate in medical management process.

 

15% Manage physical demands descriptions (PDD) for all jobs and update as necessary; maintain the ergonomic database current; develop, deploy, and monitor ramp-in and rotation programs;

 

10% Actively participate on safety committee(s), incident reviews, and project reviews.

 

10% Other duties as assigned by manager.
 

 

Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree.
  • Ability to work with others, develop solutions and solve problems; build collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment requiring the ability to multitask project assignments.
  • Must be detail oriented and have solid English literacy skills in writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as needed to support a multiple shift operation.
  • Ability to delegate and hold self and others accountable.
  • Solid organization and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications.
 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or associate degree in industrial engineering, safety engineering, nursing, kinesiology, or related discipline with an emphasis on ergonomics.
  • Three years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment/plant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply ergonomic principals, with specific focus on risk analysis and reduction.
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or other languages.
