JOB SUMMARY:
In conjunction with customer contacts, provide comprehensive management of contract/purchase order requirements in a timely and professional manner. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all US Ecology and Customer Management System policies and procedures
  • Comply with General Motors Resource Management Statement of Requirements (SOR).
  • Complete all other assignments made by management
  • Inspect collection areas as directed
  • Manage and maintain all facility containers in the Scrap Yard areas • Load all scrap into containers and trucks to be sent off site.
  • Advise superiors when waste shipments are required
  • Train and communicate with/to onsite customer staff • Conduct site scrap inspections throughout the week and note any findings. 
  • Monitor and report any inspection findings to the Project Manager at the facility daily per the site inspection check sheets.
  • Monitor all open top boxes at the facility to determine shipment needs and proper source segregation.
  • Follow the GM hierarchy of RRR.  (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
  • Communicate with plant staff about current scrap streams and methods of management
  • Uses light equipment (certification required if applicable) - such as forklift, pallet-jack, lift gate, and drum dollies - to load, unload, and move recycling and waste
  • Earn driving privileges on site and drive company vehicles to move waste around facility (if applicable)
  • Escort third party vendors (as needed)
  • Collect tires, electronics plastic from garage locations.
  • Collect, transport, process, and load scrap steel into roll-off box in the scrap yard to ensure no contamination.
  • Movement of cardboard baskets to balers.
  • Collect pallets, scrap wood, aluminum, copper, steel, and catalytic converters from garages
  • Coordinate and complete paperwork for shipment with steel vendor and security for escorted shipment for disposal.
     

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Positive customer service skills
  • Experience in the environmental industry (manufacturing experience strongly  preferred)
  • Accurate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail)
  • Ability to communicate through both written and oral medium
  • Ability to work independently with little hands-on supervision
  • Self-starter
     

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES (SKA):

  • Ability to use heavy and light equipment, such as vacuum truck, forklift, and pallet-jack. 
  • Skilled using hand and shop tools, and instruments. 
  • Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • To perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds for movement waste containers.
  • The employee is required to operate a fork lift. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Candidates may be required to wear a respirator if necessary.
  • Visits to operation sites should not represent different physical demands.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work is typically performed in a manufacturing setting and or office environment.
  • In the course of advising or counseling managers, supervisors, and employees, the individual may encounter aggressive or unpredicted behavior.
