  • Join a world class chemical leader as an Environmental Specialist with responsibility for chemical approvals, spills/release management, water sampling, air stack testing, environmental inspections, and providing environmental representation on Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and PreStartup Safety Reviews (PSSRs)
  • Water quality sampling and analysis: Obtain certifications as required by NCDEQ. Duties include but not limited to sampling NPDES outfalls, Potable and Wastewater system.
  • Air Stack Testing: Participate in air stack testing, analyzing samples and preparation of reports.
  • Chemicals: Responsible for all the environmental evaluation and approval of all chemicals proposed for use at the facility. Facilitates proper disposal of chemicals that are to be recycled or discarded. Completes chemical inventory reports and assists the Environmental Engineer in development of regulatory reports.
  • Chemical Spills and Releases: Responsible for coordinating the inspection and evaluation of spills and releases at the facility. Provides advisement for appropriate clean-up and disposal of materials. Responsible for development and implementation of systems for tracking and reporting incident statistics, evaluating historical data, and facilitating development and implementation of spills reduction initiatives.
  • Serves as the plant site environmental contact for Coast Guard and waterfront facility-related activities. Responsible for developing and maintaining the Waterfront Facility Operations Manuals,  and the Integrated Contingency Plan. Responsible for facilitating drills and inspections as required by these plans and the Coast Guard.
  • Coordinates and facilitates development of the annual environmental refresher training provided to all employees at the facility.
  • Develops the environmental topics presented at the weekly Safety Team Leaders meetings and the monthly Contractor Safety meeting.
  • Maintains training and provides the following services:  Visible Emissions Evaluator (Opacity), Taproot incident investigation leader, Environmental review of assigned Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and PreStartup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and DOT Training


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering with 2+ years in a Chemical plant involving chemical approval procedures, spills/release management, waste collection and disposal, and environmental training development.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental procedures, statutes, and regulations
