Job Responsibilities: 

  • Execute and manage permitting and regulatory compliance associated with the operation
  • Prepare and ensure compliance with environmental permits and related plans including storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), spill prevention, control and counter measures (SPCC) plans,
  • Prepare reports and conduct facility inspections, collect field samples and otherwise provide technical support to identify and resolve regulatory risks.
  • Train site staff on responsibilities associated with air quality management, storm water controls, fuel and HAZMAT storage and handling, zoning regulations, and other compliance topics.
  • Assist Operations with implementation of policies and Environmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Implement Best Management Practices.
  • Participate in environmental regulatory inspections.
  • Promote positive relationships with the public.
  • Assist with incident investigation and analysis.
  • Record keeping and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specification (knowledge, skills and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job): 

  • Ability to interpret local, state, and federal environmental standards and experience implementing regulatory requirements.
  • Training or teaching experience.
  • Interpersonal skills to work successfully within a team-based system.
  • Periodic offsite travel required.
  • Basic computer skills.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: 
Associates or Bachelor's degree in an Environmental or Engineering field, or equivalent experience.

Required Experience: 
Two years of experience implementing environmental plans, or equivalent education.  Industrial minerals experience preferred.
