The Environmental Specialist is part of team of air quality permitting and compliance professionals responsible for all aspects of developing air quality permit applications across Georgia-Pacific LLC’s domestic manufacturing divisions including Pulp & Paper, Building Products, and Packaging.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

* Assess capital and maintenance projects for both minor and major (Prevention of Significant Deterioration/Nonattainment New Source Review) air permitting applicability
* Provide on-site consultation to facility production, engineering, and environmental staff to review project specifications and gather technical details necessary for completing the air permitting application process
* Prepare all components of air quality construction and operating permit applications including detailed emissions inventories, regulatory applicability analyses, dispersion modeling analyses, supporting technical data, and forms
* Support the work of third-party consultants developing air permitting analyses and applications
* Perform and review refined air dispersion modeling analyses using EPA regulatory modeling systems
* Propose, review, advocate, and negotiate air permit terms and conditions that are consistent with operational needs and regulatory requirements
* Track the development and implementation of environmental regulations, primarily in the area of air quality, and provide miscellaneous technical support to facilities on various air quality issues
* Strong organizational and verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to effectively work in a team environment
* Experience completing multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, meteorology, environmental science, or related scientific field
* Minimum of 7 years’ experience performing air permitting applicability analyses and preparing air permit applications for both PSD major and minor forest products manufacturing facilities
* Experience working in a team environment with minimum supervisory guidance
* Willing and able to travel an average of 20% of the time
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., EXCEL, WORD) to prepare written reports, spreadsheet calculations, and training materials


What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional Engineer (P.E.) or qualified to sit for P.E. exam within 2 years
* Forest-products industry experience
* Experience permitting in Texas
