Environmental Manager

Riggs Distler & Company is a utility, mechanical, and electrical contractor based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, with customers in the eastern United States. Riggs Distler is looking for an environmental professional in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey, area to support crews working on utility projects. Experience with public utilities a plus.

Job duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Help build and maintain a safe work culture.
  • Help Riggs Distler build an industry-standard written environmental compliance program.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Riggs Distler and its host utilities for environmental issues.
  • Review environmental plans, permits, and documents for accuracy, completeness, and feasibility.
  • Respond to spills and other environmental incidents. Make or verify notifications to regulatory agencies. Coordinate with environmental partners and subcontractors.
  • Investigate environmental incidents.
  • Conduct walk-downs of potential projects with environmental concerns.
  • Help ensure field compliance of all federal, state, local, host utility, and Riggs Distler rules and regulations.
  • Train employees in environmental procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and with all Riggs Distler policies and procedures. Correct deficiencies where possible. Report deficiencies to project leaders, Riggs Distler executives, and the safety group. Serve as a resource for compliance-related questions.
  • Conduct environmental safety audits on Riggs Distler crews.
  • Complete internal reports on environmental matters.
  • Maintain 100 percent compliance with your own use of personal protective equipment: hard hat, safety glasses with side shields, EH-rated work boots, high-visibility apparel, etc.
     

Job requirements:

  • Education or experience in environmental practices and regulations
  • Strong computer and administrative skills
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Highly motivated
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Willingness to function as part of a team
