Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Maintaining, administering, and properly documenting FormFactor’s environmental programs including, but not limited to, hazardous waste management, wastewater, air emissions/permitting (BAAQMD), spill prevention and countermeasure planning (SPCC), emergency planning (EPCRA), and all other key system elements for the site per corporate and regulatory guidelines.
  • Will serve as a resource for warehouse personnel for DOT chemical shipments (49CFR/IATA).
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies and submits timely/accurate reports, permits, and fees to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Coordinate, conduct, document regulatory and EH&S inspections/audits to ensure satisfactory compliance. Will drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Helps develop, coordinate, and administer EH&S training and records.
  • Coordinates FormFactor's emergency response team and program, including training, evacuation and other drills, equipment and documentation.
  • Coordinates fire life safety system testing, inspections and documentation.
  • Work with key stakeholders to support the EH&S program.
  • Assists with accident and near miss investigations to help identify root cause, corrective and preventative action.
  • Will assist with other EH&S programs, projects and initiatives to help drive compliance and continuous improvement.
     
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, EHS Management, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the environmental field and experience working with local regulatory
    agencies.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.  Ability to move heavy chemical drums (exceeding 600 pounds).
  • Able to manage, handle, and oversee the hazardous and universal wastes per regulatory requirements and FFI’s policies and procedures.  Maintain required training to sign hazardous waste manifests.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent written, communication, and computer skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment across a multi-site organization.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of EH&S related training courses.
  • Knowledge and working experience with health and safety (Cal/OSHA and Cal/Fire Code) requirements and SEMI guidelines is a plus.
     

Knowledge and working experience with California State and Federal regulations regarding:

  • Environmental/hazardous waste (RCRA/Non-RCRA)
  • Air permitting with BAAQMD and
  • Greenhouse Gas inventory and reporting
  • Waste water treatment systems and permitting
  • Storm water programs
  • Emergency response for chemical releases, emergency evacuation, fire, etc.
  • Knowledge of sustainability / corporate social responsibility (CSR) desired.
