Environmental Compliance Manager

The primary purpose of the position is to ensure the designated site is in compliance with all environmental, transportation, quality, and company standards. Ensure compliance within company, state and federal regulations. 


  • Comply with all USE Management System policies and procedures
  • Manage and develop the sites quality and environmental programs
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety and Compliance to develop and monitor ISO quality, environmental, and safety programs
  • Submit applicable DOT permits
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety Manager to ensure workers have the appropriate PPE for identified hazards, and approve new PPE prior to use
  • Work with all divisions within the site to gain a unified environmental compliance program
  • Assist with maintaining training records
  • Work closely and cooperatively with managers and supervisors to accomplish shared environmental goals
  • Participate in the investigation of all accidents and incidents and prepare a written report with conclusions and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain expertise on all applicable environmental regulations
  • Develop and perform site environmental and DOT audits
  • Train, develop and manage the EHS Coordinator and EHS Administrative Assistant
  • Participate in Executive Safety Meetings
  • Participate in Rescue Team mock drills
  • Interact frequently with associates on all levels to identify and solve problems
  • Serve as a technical resource throughout the company
  • Train associates on environmental matters
  • Work in a constructive, positive manner with a wide range of personalities and across management and organizational boundaries
  • Prepare site release plans as necessary
  • Perform site SPCC inspections and 10 day transfer site
  • Assist with customer and off-site audits


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
  • Five to seven years in a compliance or EHS role with demonstrated broad knowledge of environmental compliance regulations or adequate combination of training and experience
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal with unstructured problems that require defensible decisions on complex regulatory matters


  • To perform the duties of this job, the employee must have a firm knowledge of environmental standards and subsequent regulations
  • Good interpersonal skills to present data to various audiences
  • Proficient in computers and report writing
  • Attention to detail and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication  


  • Work is typically performed in an office environment
  • Frequent trips to the plant required for regulatory audits, facility tours and new hire training
