The Cargill Value Added Protein (CVAP) combination brings together two high-performing businesses into an entity that has the potential to positively influence and create value for the foodservice industry and the Cargill enterprise. For stakeholders of both business units, this creates the opportunity to share expertise and enhance the value-added protein business segment together. CVAP is now organized into two Operating Units – beef and poultry – with 12 plants and 3,000 employees in the U.S. and Canada.

Position Purpose
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor will report directly to the General Manager, and focus on implementing our comprehensive safety programs. This position will lead cross functional concerted efforts to reduce injuries in a manufacturing setting. Successful candidate should be a focused team player with proven liaison, coordination and communication skills and a desire that zero injuries are possible.

Principal Accountabilities


35% Reviews the site practices and conditions on a consistent basis for implementation of policies and procedures .Document control of all safety programs and regulations (i.e. BBP, near miss, and safety scorecard)

25% Interaction with hourly employees to support safety processes and affect the culture of safety at the facility

15% Hazard identification/Risk Reductions Activities

15% Provide Coaching and training to employees at all levels of the organization

10% Investigate incidents and analyze trends, work closely with nursing to work through root cause of Ergonomic injuries.

Required

  • 3 plus years in operations management or EHS related field
  • General knowledge of safety regulations
  • Proven organization, planning, and communication skills
  • Effective presentation and training skills
  • Demonstrated team building skills and influencing others
  • Skills must include use of Microsoft Office Software and ability to learn Cargill specific applications


Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science degree in related fields
  • Safety experience in process implementation in a manufacturing environment
