EHS Manager

REPCO, a division of McShares, Inc., is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Environmental Health & Safety Manager. This position is located in Salina, KS and is full-time Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The EHS manager is solely responsible for the development and implementation of Environmental Health & Safety programs and procedures to ensure the safe and compliant operation of REPCO and that pertain to the food industry. 

Essential Functions (and other duties may be assigned by management): 

  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, training and records for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Chair the Safety Committee at REPCO.
  • Responsible for compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental laws, regulations and standards.
  • Implement programs and train employees to comply PSM, OSHA, KDHE and EPA regulations and standards.
  • Obtain necessary permits and file reports with regulatory agencies as required.
  • Coordinate, conduct and document employee training for safety, quality management and environmental programs such as HAZCOM, ergonomics, LOTO, confined space, hazardous waste, power industrial trucks forklifts, PPE, etc. for all employees.
  • Oversee environmental programs including waste disposal, air permitting, water discharge and groundwater monitoring.
  • Lead compliance and conformance audits and supervise emergency drills.
  • Administer contractor and visitor safety programs.
  • Conduct accident investigations to determine cause and corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Complete Accident/Incident Reports and related documentation.
  • Responsible for setting the tone and vision for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Enforce safety programs for all plant equipment and personnel.
  • Evaluate and authorize the purchase of required safety equipment for all plant equipment and personnel including first aid supplies, respirators, electronic monitoring equipment, etc.
  • Respond to the needs of the workforce in a positive and productive manner.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and reports as needed.
  • Maintain and produce accurate reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Represent the organization during visits and/or inspections from outside agencies.
  • Responsible for morale, communication and support for safety.
  • Responsible to follow all good manufacturing practices, applicable food safety principles, laws and statutory regulations.
  • Perform all job duties within company guidelines, policies, standards and specifications.
     

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Biology or related field; or 5+ years EH&S management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous management and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations and agencies required.
  • Food industry experience preferred.
