Safety - Oversees all safety policy administration and training. Responsible for all OSHA and DOT compliance and reporting and workers’ compensation incident reporting, investigation and case management, including management of restricted duty program.
Environmental - Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local environmental regulations and permit filing requirements.
Security - Oversees security, including managing the security vendor relationship, training security staff and ensuring maintenance of security equipment, including the camera system.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
5 years of professional safety experience in the manufacturing industry.
Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasion skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all level of employees and management, and outside agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for maintenance of a strong, effective safety culture.
Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices, and develops hazard control practices and programs.
Guides and assists plant personnel with critical safety and health issues.
Reviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for safety policy and practice improvements.
Establishes target areas and long-range prevention and cost-control objectives.
Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws and environmental codes.
Assists management in understanding OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections and citations.
Acts as company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and environmental matters.
Coordinates investigation of injuries and incidents in conjunction with line and staff personnel. Notifies management of pertinent details.
Oversees claim reporting and case management with workers’ compensation insurance company.
