This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Cargill policies and government laws involving Environment, Health and Safety. This position will oversee audits, regulatory inspections, lead the BBP process/safety plan, as well as oversee EHS communications throughout the facility.
  • Ensures completion of MOC's, BBP records, auditing areas of the plant to ensure compliance with safety programs and identification of best practices for Safety.
  • Monitors and maintains the plant's safety program by reviewing, revising and establishing policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that the program meets the minimum requirements set out by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) and Cargill.
    Coordinates monthly plant inspections.
  • Ensures audits are conducted according to the established schedule for the purpose of identifying unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Ensures appropriate corrective actions are taken to eliminate all identified deficiencies within a designated time period.
  • Evaluates all accident/incident investigation forms. Ensures that constructive feedback is given to supervisors/superintendents regarding the information obtained in the investigation.
  • Oversees safety training content and compliance.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the area of Safety, Environmental, Science or Engineering
  • 2-5 years’ experience at a production facility
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Continued education in safety related area, including obtaining safety certification
  • Computer skills; use of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, as well as regulatory agencies
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong time management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills
  • Certified Safety Professional (or willing to obtain)
  • Cargill Qualified EHS Auditor (or ability to obtain)
  • Cargill EHS management system auditor (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001
  • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA requirements
