POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director-EHS & Risk Management will lead global TMLC in the development and execution of a comprehensive environmental, health, safety, security and risk management plan.  The Director will help TMLC develop a world class safety and risk management system by cultivating a Zero Injury and Risk Savvy culture.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Know the business; share in responsibility for improving and sustaining business results by ensuring strategies are translated into concrete actions and tangible results
  • Champion culture by aligning people with the business mission, vision and values; EHS and employee relations champion
  • Lead strategic planning and execution of TMLC’s global environmental, health, safety and security plan, driving continuous improvement and maintaining regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT, other).   
  • Partner with leadership to ensure the health, safety and security of all TMLC associates and contractors; cultivate a Zero Injury Culture and risk savvy organization
  • Champion sustainability activities in an effort to balance business objectives with social responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, analyze and report a robust set of key performance indicators; develop standard EHS & Risk Management dashboard(s); leverage data to drive continuous and cost improvement; manage FBHS EHS systems portal  
  • Manage workers’ compensation and case management program(s)
  • Provide training in focus areas of OSHA and EPA compliance, risk assessment, ergonomics, behavior-based safety, return-to-work, incident investigation, workplace violence, life safety and business interruption/disaster planning
  • Provide project leadership/management – waste management/minimization, recycling and environmental remediation
  • Effectively manage internal staff and external consulting resources (Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene and Security)
  • Partner with Sourcing in support of Global Citizenship and Social Responsibility goals; chair Corporate Compliance Committee
  • Serve as primary liaison between TMLC and FBHS Regulatory Affairs
  • Manage property protection – security and FM Global
  • Enable a working environment where sharing knowledge and expertise is not inhibited
  • Monitor and provide excellent HR-EHS & Risk service delivery (timely, accurate, efficient and responsive)
  • Serve as general advisor on employment law and government regulations
  • Provide direct leadership to TMLC’s HQ Facility Manager

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Life or Physical Sciences, or other related field; advanced degree and/or professional designation(s) preferred (CSP, CHMM, other)
  • Firm grasp of the fundamentals of Risk Management; minimum of 10 years relevant manufacturing experience; career advancement within at least one organization
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ownership of EHS & Risk KPIs; using business, HR and safety data to drive continuous improvement
  • Managed or lead a “world-class”  EHS program with experience in behavioral based safety and formal systems management programs
  • Demonstrated problem solving and change management experience
  • International experience preferred – heavy focus on MX
