Regulatory Compliance Manager

The Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC), the statewide service organization for the Illinois Electric Cooperatives is seeking a dynamic individual with proven experience to fill the position of Regulatory Compliance Manager.   Working closely with the General Counsel, the successful candidate will design and develop programs, policies, and practices to ensure that the member cooperatives of the AIEC comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

The AIEC is the service organization for member electric and telephone cooperatives for the state of Illinois and their associate organizations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, review, and continuously improve the AIEC and our member cooperatives’ respective compliance programs to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Provide advice and training to employees of the AIEC and our member cooperatives regarding applicable standards, laws, and regulations.
     

Participate in and provide advice to the AIEC and our member cooperatives regarding issues, concerns, and projects and their interrelationship with applicable standards, laws, and regulations in any number of ways including, but not limited to:

  • Develop and update SPCC plans, drug and alcohol testing, and federal and state truck and safety programs, draft and advise on environmental permitting;
  • Develop policies and plans for emergency action, ADA, hearing protection, workplace violence, return to work, hazard communications, and PCB spills.
  • Perform safety and regulatory audits.
  • Stay up to date on applicable law, regulation, and practice and keeps the AIEC and our member cooperatives apprised of current developments.
  • Reports to General Counsel and operates with autonomy and limited supervision.
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively across virtually all functions of government, the AIEC, and our member cooperatives.
  • Engages with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association on evolving regulatory issues and participates in various national working groups, as appropriate. 

The AIEC is headquartered in Springfield, Illinois - the state capital. The successful applicant would join a safety, training, and regulatory team comprised of six full-time employees who provide safety, training, regulatory, and/or legal support to the AIEC and its member cooperatives.
